Recap

Oct 19, 427

It was still early morning, after recovering the staff (apparently the Staff of Ninavar). The party gathered around the hole we’d found broken in the flagstone floor. Below it, crates were piled as if to make a ladder, but it appeared from the dust that no one had come this way in some time. We climbed down, found a brick-lined room with old straw mats and crates. The crates were full of rotten old meat, some of which looked human.

There was a tunnel system exiting this room. We quickly ran into a gang of lizardmen and dispatched them. Beyond them we saw a red stream flowing, which we assumed was related to the corruption of Gadaszin. While Tavenna was harvesting lizardman scales, Karm and Sapporo explored nearby. Sapporo ran into a room with a whole warband of lizardmen, caught them by surprise and engaged them.

His squad killed a lot of them but got beaten up and they lost Whiskey the war dog. In the end Fingol’s squad arrived and swept up the remaining lizards, and Bartosz narrowly avoided going down. In this room we recovered a lot of coin and an old clearly-magical navgarine sword. By lot this was assigned to Fingol, who gave it to Iahzir the dragonman.

We also found a crudely drawn map of the above-ground complex of Blessed River, labeled in draconic. Thankfully we had Iahzir to translate. The maze was marked with a question mark. Arrows ran NE and SE. On the SE arrow, a note: tunnels were being dug toward Amtolosz. And tunnels were being used for breeding.

We  set up a defensive line and allowed Tavenna to harvest scales from all the lizardmen, then retreated to our camp, since we had several wounded party members.

Rested at camp and healed the wounded. Iahzir trained with the sword and found it was a sword +1.

We re-entered the tunnels. All the skinned lizardman bodies had been dragged away.

We followed the blood-stream and found a cave set up with a sacrificial altar, where the lizardmen bodies were being used in some way to generate the corrupted blood. We destroyed another warband of lizardmen inside. A wide pool of blood surrounded the altar, which we avoided touching. Multiple tunnels went on further inside.
