Recap
Oct 14, 427
Fingol, Gregoire and Karm visited Earl Ilcarion. After some discussion about our adventures, we told him about the threat of the Unpledged in Amtolosz and offered to take care of them for him. In exchange, we agreed upon a delay of 4 months in the levying of tribute upon our barony in the east. Karm attempted to argue that more land should be part of the deal but the Earl didn’t agree.
Fingol picked up the monster parts stored at his cottage.

On the way to Vigilant Keep, we stumbled upon a shortcut in the wilderness, speeding our trip. We then ran into some bandits on the road. They should’ve known who they were dealing with. Fingol goaded them by demanding a show of fealty to himself as the local baron, and they drew swords. They were blasted apart by lightning with scarcely a blow stuck. As a show of extreme force to discourage further banditry in his lands (and make a bit of coin), Fingol and Tavenna carved out the bandits’ hearts and put them in metamphorae for potion ingredients. A barony forged in the blood of brigands and traitors against all lawful civilization… yes, that sounded good in Fingol’s ears.
Oct 16
Fingol inspected Vigilant Keep and her new guard. Finding the fortress in good order he paid a bonus to the mercenaries and stored his newly acquired goods in the workshop.
Oct 17
Returned the Amtolosz using the shortcut. Karm had remained behind, plotting with the Unpledged - he had convinced them to join in an attack against the heaven-daughters, but planned to double cross them. Together we informed the earl of the planned ambush.
Oct 18
Having some time before the planned attack, we set out to explore the navgarine city where Esquire had once slain a dragon. In the forests, we happened upon a hidden location - a shallow canyon encircled by rocky cliffs, but we decided it was not close enough to the dungeon for our camp.
Oct 19
“He who mistakenly ventures into this place, let him only take this staff in his direst need.”
Completely undeterred, we took the staff.
Exploring further, we found a hole in the floor leading to a basement.
