Picking up mid-delve beneath the ancient Navgarine city of Blessed River, we were joined by Baron Gregoire.
Behind the blood altar, we discovered that a tunnel emerged outside into an old disused quarry. Identifying this as an easier access point to the dungeon, we left, returned to our war animals and brought the bears, and our best war dog - Esquire the Dragonslayer - into the cave with us.
An encounter with a small number of gnolls led to a chase. Fingol and Karm with their henchmen ran into a full warband. We prevailed in the fight but with a number of wounded including Fingol. Tavenna healed Kilosz and Iahzir who were the hardest hit, and we carried on. This room also contained a hastily constructed altar and a magical shield.
Across from this warband, Sapporo discovered a large root, apparently infected with the evil of Gadaszin. He tested burning it, but it showed no reaction.
We split up to clear out more area while Tavenna pulled gnoll teeth for alchemy and Fingol stood guard with his other henchmen. A viper, two giant bats and a foul attercop were dispatched easily, but our overconfidence came back to bite us when Sapporo and his henchmen ran into a scourge of giant carnivorous flies. The loyal warrior Bartosz was horribly slain, his entrails dissolved and devoured in a moment. This profoundly shook Sapporo, who openly questioned the party’s purpose in even being here.
Two more paths were identified, both leading deeper underground: a vertical shaft, and a low cliff over which the blood stream flowed.
The party agreed to pull out of the dungeon and attend to Bartosz’s funeral rites. Laden with loot, they must now consider a return to civilization.
